Word Tundra

I just realized that I don't post too many words too much of the time. I guess I am more of a "feel it" than "read it" type of squirrel....though I like to write...
and read....
We digress. Here are some random photos I came across when cataloging my fathers extensive slide collection. Seeming that I am a semi-only child; my sister is a mere 14 aka: digital but, I live in the slides. Ill share some as I locate the tiny me's sandwiched between Stonehenge and the Swiss Alps. The following tender moments are brought to you by Craig (the dad)

My mother and I at Seaside.

My mother straight up lovin' me.

I think it might have been Field Day at school 1981.

I wore an outfit similar to this last week. I was all dress up fancy (and pantless?) for the Christmas village.

This one is more of a sociological study. Observe father subject A.
Observe father subject A's choice of attire.

Lets zoom in for a closer look....

Kudos Dad! Way to knock up that super cute chic in the red hotpants AND dress however the fuck you want.
I have a strange sensation in my chest....
I think it might be pride.

Ladyesque

Rare that I will have pictures including my face.
Even more rare, they are photos I didn't take myself.
Even rarer still, I didn't feel like a boy.

I think these photo shoot shots turned out real fun and dare I say.... girle.

Eclipsed

Gramps
My Grandfather was born here in Portland- Just as his father before him. My Great-Grandfather owned a very popular ice cream shop in Sellwood during the 1930's when Gramps was growing up.
During his life he was a pilot (flew the plane under the St. John's bridge during his first flying lesson), a barber, and taxi driver by the name of Frenchie Duvall. He met my Grandma at a USO dance downtown Portland. They got married two weeks later and stayed that way for 50+ years.

He died on Valentine's Day. He and my Grandma's Anniversary.
grave

It was a pretty harsh day. I learned some things that will effect my life permanently. I'll spare you and just leave you with some of the residue of the finer moments.
coffin
"Do you want to get high before or after the funeral home"?
"Both".
"Good call. I brought my van..."
"Since when do you have a Shaggin' Wagon"?
"I don't. I have a Cuddle Shuttle".
spring
As my 14 year old sister and I stood crying together- paying respects to the Grandpa's shell. Sobbing, she turns to me and says:
"Right now might not be the appropriate time but....Where the hell did you get that bad ass purse?"

As my day drew to a close, I sat on the hood of my car and enjoyed the lunar eclipse with my camera. This 1/1000 of how beautiful it was.

For nibble time....in 1886....in space.

Blah, blah, blah-
C'et la vie bizzarre, mes amis. In an otherwise un-notable chain of events this evening I managed to find myself smack dab in the face of someone that I haven't seen since 1988. Fact. 20 years.
Unbelievable.
I guess I haven't changed much. I was recognized but honestly, it took me a moment (oddly not awkward)
Interesting stuff for sure. Odd also how much detail I can remember about someone that I never even think of enough to even wonder if I'll ever see them again in my lifetime.

Most of my friends Ive known for a consistently long period of time. We don't do a lot of rehashing. We aware of the scoop. Rehashing really puts crap in perspective for sure. 20 years is a long fucking time. In the lightening round of the random encounter you talk for a brief moment-funneling down 20 years worth of important moments, experiences, and stuff. What you opt to mention and not mention are equally interesting.
We didn't manage to get anywhere near a good synopsis so, this weekend we shall meet for coffee and present our time lines and/or Power Point presentations.
I can't lie and tell you that my memories of that time are stellar. It was rough. I was painfully shy and quiet. It was all bad all the time... but, I found myself not even giving a crap and feeling actually quite bonded. They turned out very nice after all this time. I turned out pretty good after 20 years have been said and done. I guess I'm also kind of humorous...
"Who knew you were going to be so funny, Jessica"? They said.
