I came home the other day to a mysterious letter from the Clackamas County District Court. I pondered....
No speeding tickets ever in Oregon.
No parking tickets.
Maybe, jury duty?
Nope. The letter informed me of my case file, my deliquacy in payment, my warrent, sneek thievery, and blatant corruption of the public good. Pay up immediately to avoid possible arrest, etc etc etc.
Fast forward to me calling up the district court today seeking enlightenment.
Cue the flashback sequence:
I rolled up to the party pretty late. Everything was already full swing. Attendees all officially crap-faced. Everyone was out in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Turns out, moments prior to my arrival there was a large rumble between a few chaps and the museum of nightmares called my ex-boyfriend. The fight had already been broken up (leaving much rubble in the wake) and everyone was just trying to chill back down. While my friend was Crystal mid re-enacting, here comes the Fuzz. The neighbors had called the police due to the tomfoolery thus, sending all of us party goers to have to go to the court, pay money, and ask Jesus to love us again. We paid, we left.
My dad mentioned a few times after I had moved that I got something from "The Government". They went into my fathers Inbox (aka. Woodstove). Opening letters from the Government is just one thing on the long list of things my father does not do.
I have never thought once about it since.
On February 23, 1993 1:23 AM I receive a Minor In Possession of a Controlled Substance. I was 17 years old. My fine was $36.00
It's been 15 years. I'm 32 years old now.
Ive managed to run from The Man for a long time, my friends.
Living in hiding, staying incognito...
But, the hunter was too mighty, too cunning, too powerful. I'm too tired and old to run anymore. I want to live a normal life with my family and remove the cloak of shame that I have had to hide behind. Ill pay you your $58 (interest)and maybe someday i'll be able to wash the taint of blood from my hands and walk a free man again in the sunlight.
You win Clackamas County...
You always do.
